[x] grind on the mind

again, maniac in the beginning. actually I played with him before - he's some crazy Russian from Moscow :) 1st hand: allin AK(me) vs AQ. he was 3-betting every hand and i moved in with JJ, he had AA. i floped J, but the river was A obv. $200 pot. next "flip" was about trickier:

$0.25/$0.5 No Limit Holdem
2 players

Stacks:
BTN
($254.95)
Hero (BB)
($70.75)

Pre-flop: ($0.75, 2 players) Hero is BB

BTN raises to $1.50, Hero calls $1

Flop: ($3, 2 players)
Hero bets $2, BTN raises to $7, Hero raises to $25, BTN goes all-in $253.45, Hero goes all-in $44.25

Turn: ($325.70, 2 players)

River: ($325.70, 2 players)

Final Pot: $141.50
Hero shows:
BTN shows:

BTN wins $325.20 ( won +$70.25 )
Hero lost -$70.75

he was 2-to-3 dog when I shoved and I was ahead of his range.
don't know what happened between hands 100 and 240 - I didn't play poorly but somehow I spewed almost $100. I need to review this part again..
so far so good: I'm $311 up since I've started playing 50nl HU(a couple of days ago!), I'm perfectly rolled for these games and I have huge edge over some opponents (but ofcourse there are guys that own me - I shall just avoid them for now). I think I should just stick to HU

  1. So what's your edge? It must be a huge swing to go from FR to HU (or even from 6max) - I would have thought a good tourney player would be good at HU.

I haven't tried it yet, seems so intense - tilt must be difficult as every move can become 'personal'?

  2. some people never fold top pair, some make hero calls with ace-high or don't protect made hands or c-bet and check-fold etc etc. if you find a fish you can take all of his money, stack after stack

gameflow is very different - my vpip is 67% and usually it's over 70% when I start playing with a new opponent.

according to my PT, in heads-up games i'm losing $743.12/day(filter: "NOT(Won Hand)"), so losing few extra bucks here and there won't tilt me much :)

  3. I'll have to give it a go sometime. I don't think there are 2NL HU games though :-)

  4. there are..on titan. but 50nl is the smallest HU game so all fish is there. there are some pros too because you can make decent amount of money but from what I've heard they all move to 100nl because of rake..

  5. I just had a look at Titan and PS HU - huge difference (or at right now there is). For NL50 PS minimum buy-in is $25 while Titan it's $5!

So on titan there's more games going on, but with lots of tiny stacks. That kinda suggests Titan is fishier, but still less profitable? Have you tried the games there?

  6. i think there are $2 games also. i tried some with my "free monies" on titan. fish is fish. the only difference is that there are probably no regs@2nl. "pros" can easily make a couple of $100s/day@50nl so they take it seriously
