i also played my 1st omaha SnG. there were 3 paid places, i was chip leader when only 3 of us left and finished...3rd! and i played omaha freeroll. i ended ~330th/9000. there were only 72 prizes(tickets to another freeroll - limit holdem with 12000 participants..which i had absolutely no chances of winning). i could have done better as i believe good player has much greater edge on average player in omaha than in texas hold'em..i wish omaha was at least half as popular as hold'em so i could have practiced more.
